1. Overview

Bookmark Navigator ("the Extension") is a tool for analyzing and managing your Chrome bookmarks. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension accesses and how it is used.

Core principle: All data processing happens locally on your device. No data is ever sent to our servers.

2. Data We Access

• Bookmarks We read and modify bookmark titles, URLs, and folder structure. Used for dead link detection, duplicate removal, and AI grouping.
• Browsing History We read visit counts and last visit times for bookmarked URLs only, covering the past 90 days. Used to generate monthly reports and display visit frequency.
• Local Storage App settings such as UI preferences are stored in Chrome's local storage on your device.

3. URL Status Checks

When you run the dead link detection feature, the Extension sends HTTP requests directly to each bookmarked URL to check its status. Your IP address may be visible to those websites as part of normal HTTP traffic. We do not read page content — only the HTTP response code (e.g. 200, 404) is checked.

4. Data We Do Not Collect

• Personal identifiers such as name, email, or address
• General browsing history beyond bookmarked URLs
• User behavior logs such as clicks or scrolls
• Device information or location data

5. Data Retention & Deletion

All data exists only on your device. Uninstalling the Extension will remove all locally stored settings.
